Technical Responsibility for Electrical Installations
Electrical installations, depending on their power capacity and complexity, may or may not require supervision by a certified technical professional. Installations not subject to this requirement must generally be inspected every five years. Those requiring technical oversight are inspected at least twice a year, with an annual report submitted to DGEG detailing the inspections carried out by the responsible technician.
In a directive issued by DGEG in November 2024, for all existing electrical installations—whether connected to the grid or not—a set of modification types was defined and classified as Significant, Usual, or Non-Significant. Regardless of the classification, all modifications now require procedures involving supervision by a certified technician, covering the design phase, execution of the electrical installation work, and commissioning or operational startup.
This includes monitoring and supervision of maintenance or renovation operations for electrical installations, as well as advisory services for implementing energy monitoring systems to optimize electricity usage in industrial or service-based enterprises.
